John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Therapy (JFB MFR)
John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Therapy combines soft tissue mobilization, sustained pressure, traction, compression, gentle holds, and energy techniques to release fascial and energy restrictions, thus, enabling the mind-body to return to healthy functioning. JFB MFR addresses the body’s fascial system, which consists of continuous connective tissue that pervades all other systems of the body. The pervasiveness of the fascial system means that, as the therapist works on one part of the body, other parts of the body are affected. JFB MFR makes use of the piezoelectric effect of the fascial system to allow the body to heal itself. The therapist creates the piezoelectric effect by applying a sustained, gentle pressure to the fascia allowing the tissue to elongate and return to the viscous fluidity that is indicative of healthy fascia. Healthy fascia is free of restrictions and does not impede functioning of other bodily systems.
